Preset scale does not yield proper measurement on PDF.

The architect shows the scale as 3/8" = 1'-0". I select "preset scale", choose the correct scale and precision, apply scale, choose linear measurement, select the beginning and ending points, and get an incorrect measurement. The bottom left of the screen shows the scale to be 1:32 which is the correct scale equivalent. The correct measurement should be 28'- 6" but comes out 14'-7 3/4". How can I correct this? Thank you,

Jim

Thank you for your message. Sometimes the scale indicated by the architect may be incorrect, or the drawing could have been plotted at a different size. You have two possible solutions:

1. Set Scale by Length

  • Select two points on the drawing with a known dimension.
  • Enter the true length into the dialog box.
  • This will calibrate the scale accurately based on the actual geometry.

2. Use Preset Scale

  • In the preset scale window, select 3/16" = 1'-0" instead of 3/8".
  • Apply the scale and recheck your measurement.

Either method should correct the discrepancy and give you the expected measurement of 28'-6"

I'll give it a try. Thanks. It makes sense that the PDF might actually have a different scale than shown.
