How to Open a CAD Drawing in CAD Reader?

CAD Reader supports DXF and DWG file formats.

If your drawing is compressed in a .rar or .zip file, you must first unzip or extract the contents before opening the drawing in CAD Reader.

Option 1: Open Directly from the File

1. Locate the CAD file on your computer.

2. Right click on the file.

3. Hover over ‘Open with’.

4. Select ‘CAD Reader’ from the menu.

5. The drawing will open in the CAD Reader application.

Option 2: Open from Within CAD Reader

1. Launch the CAD Reader application.

2. Click the ‘Open’ button on the toolbar.

3. Select ‘Open File’ from the drop down menu.

4. Browse to the file location and select the drawing.

5. The drawing will open in CAD Reader.

To make CAD Reader the default program for opening CAD files:

1. Locate any CAD file (.dwg or .dxf) on your computer.

2. Right click on the file.

3. Hover over ‘Open with’.

4. Select ‘Choose another app’ from the menu.

5. From the list of applications, select ‘CAD Reader’.

6. Check the box or click Always use this app to confirm CAD Reader as the default application
