In construction, it's often necessary to overlay structural drawings onto the surveyor’s plot plan to accurately determine the coordinates of a structure. However, structural drawings are typically scaled by designers or engineers to fit neatly on paper, which means the dimensions may not directly align with the surveyor’s coordinates.

To ensure proper alignment:

• The structural drawing must be rescaled accurately using the correct units.
• This step is crucial for overlaying both drawings precisely and avoiding misalignment in positioning on-site.

By using consistent units and accurate scaling, you ensure that structural elements correspond correctly to their intended locations on the ground.

Step-by-step guide:

1. Launch the structural drawing in CAD Reader.
2. Use the Measurement tool to verify the dimension units of the structural drawing.
3. Move your cursor to the toolbar and click Editor to enter edit mode.
4. Click on the Scale function in the toolbar, then draw a box around the structure or object you wish to scale.
5. Right-click to confirm your selection.
6. Left-click on any point in the drawing to define the base point for scaling.
7. Hold the Shift key to manually input the scale factor. For example, if the surveyor plan shows a 20 m length and your structural drawing measures it as 20,000 mm, input 0.001 as the scale factor.
8. Select and copy the entire scaled structure.
9. Load the surveyor plot plan and click Editor on the toolbar to enable editing.
10. Paste the copied structure into the plot plan.
11. Use the Move tool from the toolbar. Set a base point and reposition the structure so it aligns accurately with its intended location on the surveyor plan.
12. Click the Save button on the toolbar.
13. Close the current drawing and reopen the surveyor plot plan in CAD Reader to reflect the changes.
14. Go to Measure on the toolbar and choose Coordinate from the drop-down menu.
15. Click on any points of the structure to verify accuracy and begin extracting the required coordinates.
